From Heartbreak to Healing

When you hear “heartbreak,” you might think of a broken romance or an unfaithful “man of your dreams”. But, this story isn’t about love lost with someone else; it’s about a heartbreak that ran deeper than any relationship. This is the story of how I broke my own heart—and the journey to healing that made me whole again.

Let’s start with what heartbreak really is. Heartbreak is the loss of something deeply tied to your soul: a dream, a desire, a purpose. It’s not just sadness; it’s the feeling of something slipping away that you thought you could hold on to forever. My heartbreak was born the moment I decided to follow my entrepreneurial dreams and, somewhere along the way, I got lost in the noise.

Yes, I started my entrepreneurial path as a confident, grounded woman. But as I stepped further in, something shifted. I found myself wanting everyone to love what I was creating—to feel the same excitement I felt about my vision. I can’t tell you where it started, but soon, this desire turned into something else: people-pleasing. And let me tell you this, people-pleasing is a slow betrayal of your true self.

Instead of trusting the vision I had, I began seeking “expert opinions.” I thought maybe they knew something I didn’t. I got tangled in trends, I scrolled through influencer feeds, I watched algorithms dictate what was “in” and what was “out.” Before I knew it, I was drowning in everyone else’s version of success, far from my own. My dreams, my essence became buried under layers of advice and expectations that weren’t mine.

Every time I tried to speak from the heart, something stopped me. I felt like an imposter, a hollow version of myself. I’d put on a “business face” that wasn’t me, trying to convince the world (and myself) that I was confident in these choices that weren’t even mine. It was as if I’d invited a stranger to take over my life—a representative who couldn’t under any circumstances capture my true vision.

Remember that description of heartbreak? That’s where I was: tangled in sorrow, disconnected from myself, heartbroken in the deepest way. I was lost.

But here’s what I’ve learned, you can’t hide from yourself forever. No matter how tangled you are, your truth will alway come to the surface. The noise around me grew so loud that I couldn’t ignore it anymore. The “representative” I’d built was cracking, and underneath, I found pieces of my real self, waiting to be put back together.

Rebuilding wasn’t easy, but tapping back into who God made me to be was never something I feared. Piece by piece, I began to reclaim every part of myself that felt lost and broken—this time, stronger, more confident, and undeniably powerful. My genuine and authentic self are cornerstones of my foundation, the breath from which I create, and compromising them was simply non-negotiable. I had spent so long seeking validation from outside myself that I had forgotten my own voice.

So here I am, sharing this journey from heartbreak to healing, because maybe you’ve been there too. Maybe you’ve felt lost in the noise, doubting your own dreams in favor of what you “should” be doing. But trust me when I say, the only way forward is to get back to your true self. This journey has brought me clarity, confidence, and a heart no longer broken, but stronger than ever before.

No more hiding. No more pleasing. Just pure, unfiltered, unapologetic me.
